Raimat Castell, Chardonnay, DO Costers Del Segre, Spain

Paired with Pear, Blue Cheese and Maple Puff Pastry Tarts

This Chardonnay from Costers del Segre, Catalunya, Spain is 100% organic – according to the rep during the September wine dinner at Randy’s Steakhouse.

For being 100% fermented in stainless steel, this is a buttery Chardonnay. It has a lemon flavor, yet has a tart finish like a cold lemonade on a hot day.

In other words, had you given this to me without telling me where it was from, I’d have guessed Napa Valley – not Spain. Maybe that is just my untrained palate, or maybe its just as my notes say “good sipping Chardonnay.”

The blue cheese in the tart washed out the wine, but the tart was really delicious and I’d like to have it again.

Final Thoughts

This smells like your typical California Chardonnay, or any Chardonnay for that matter.

I put it as a Tuesday on the days of the week scoring – mostly because its a good Chardonnay that will go with just about anything.
