I agree with the Mae West quote on the back label – “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
It’s summer. It’s hot. It’s the perfect time for a rosé. I’m not actually a fan of sweet rosé wines. But this 2021 vintage, called Reflection, from Prairie Chicks had some good berry and pear flavor to it.
It’s a blend of three grape varietals – Zinfandel, Riesling, and Malvasia – with added sugar.
You can definitely taste the Zin.
Final Thoughts
Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to taste anything else from this Lleveland, Tx based winery during the Vineyard Festival. (I guess I’ll have to go back.) Yes, the bottle says Brownfield, but the vines are in Lleveland (website). I didn’t realize it was owner Diane Lane that I talked to at the booth – but makes the description she gave me even better: “I sit on the porch and drink it and don’t realize I’ve gotten to the third glass.” Which is a much nicer southern way of saying it’s a porch pounder. But I couldn’t agree more. In this heat – an ice cold glass of this rosé is just what you need after a long Monday, or Tuesday, or Sunday with your mother-in-law.
