I was able to attend the last Sunsets in the Vineyard at William Chris Vineyards (website). We got a taste of Mary Ruth and decided to enjoy a bottle while listening to the live music and watching the sunset. William Chris made the list of the World’s Best Vineyards list at number 60 (more).
Mary Ruth is white blend that includes Muscat Blanc, Blanc du Bois, Sauvignon Blanc, and Malvasia Bianca (more). It has a very floral scent like perfume yet a sugary scent like a Moscato. The wine is light with a long finish and no acidity. It really brought out the spice on the chicken in the “taco.” It’s super drinkable and goes down way too easily. Definitely perfect for sitting on the porch (as we did) and watching the sunset.
Final Thoughts
I’d like to go back and do a proper tasting at William Chris. Since they also offer wine education, it would be a great opportunity to learn. William Chris has a great variety of wines on offer. Plus the vineyard is lovely.
