Daou Chardonnay

This is a solid Tuesday wine, paired with a walnut feta salad.

It’s not too buttery, not too oaky, but nothing special. I enjoyed drinking it, but as much as I hate to say it, I liked the rosé better.

It had a hint of green apple at first sniff, but that disappeared as I ate the salad.

It’s one of those wines in the Tuesday price range that matches the day it should be drunk. Hovering between $15-20/bottle it’s a good value with a solid wine for pairing with, well, what you’d normally pair whites with – salad, shrimp, fish, even pork – just nothing with a strong spice.

Final Thoughts

You can’t go wrong serving this wine (or just drinking it) any day of the week. I commented to my dining companions that it was a “Tuesday to Thursday” wine.

If you know your recipient doesn’t like bold buttery chardonnays, this is a perfect gift for a grocery store varietal.
