This 2013 Pinot Grigio was an icebox lottery winner with a lovely color. My notes say it had an odd scent for a pinot grigio – but I didn’t elaborate.
We paired it with chicken, brussel sprouts and butternut squash. The brussel sprouts made it taste buttery, the chicken and squash paired well.
Final Thoughts
This is the kind of wine you put ice cubes in… I hate to say it – but it’s true. It’s surprisingly drinkable, but needs to be super ice cold, otherwise it has almost no flavor. Overall, it was a bit forgettable. I’m not sure if that’s due to it’s age (almost 10 years) or the wine itself as it’s from Vigneti delle Dolomiti, Trentino-Alto Adige, Northern Italy, Italy. We rated it as a Monday… but likely wouldn’t buy it again.
